Your Prime is Ending – Will You Fight Back?
In 1998 at Lazard, I was a solid analyst but not a financial wizard. Some guys were absolute ninjas. Their models sang and their balance sheets balanced. By comparison, my future seemed limited.
I was in my prime for financial analysis – but would it be enough?
My first job in private equity broke that question. Becoming a PE deal quarterback demanded abilities invisible at the analyst level, such as pattern recognition, investment judgment, and a touch of charisma. Skills no financial model could capture.
I had entered a new prime.
Your prime isn’t one peak you climb and then stubbornly defend. It’s a series of stages that require an expanding skillset and an evolving mindset.
Even as you dominate today, your current prime will end. And the next one might not resemble anything you recognize. It might not even be a “job.”
The seasons are shifting. You can fight to preserve that which will inevitably end or invest and prepare for your next evolution.

P.S. At my Valhalla Ascend retreat this April, we’ll experience techniques and frameworks that help you ascend to your next prime.
