Amazing call and turnout! Impressed that some of you stayed 30 extra minutes. Takeaways from the Zoom below:
1. 5-5-5- Morning routine is working for HBSers
– people love cold showers(!)
– people are feeling BOTH happier AND more productive
– we estimated that the 555 routine can create 10% more productivity (per one participant), which is a lot of economic value: annual income x 10%
2. What validates you runs your life!
– we identified activities that validate us (make us feel proud, or who we want to be)
– external validation is from family, friends, society
– internal validation is independent of others; just what makes us proud of us
– If you don’t know exactly what validates you, then you’re not in charge of what drives you – scary!
3. 10 minute meditation to reduce stress at work
– we discussed basic steps to prep yourself for meditation
– we did a meditation together that combined a) practicing focus, b) body scanning, 3) visualization, and 4) alignment with the Orion star system
– I promised that I would record this meditation and send it around
4. Why finding your purpose is NOT enough
– Why the 6 human needs drive your every action, and how to understand your desires and addictions (like your addiction to success) with this framework
– Why your mind is the biggest obstacle to your happiness
– Why even finding your “true cosmic purpose” will not be enough to make you happy, and how to remedy this
