Are you a conscious leader? Are you sure?
Last week, I sat on stage with Sadhguru — yes, THAT Sadhguru.
Sadhguru has 70M+ online followers, billions of online views, and a foundation powered by millions of volunteers that has planted 100+ million trees.
Heads of state, CEOs, athletes, and celebrities seek him out. You’ve seen him everywhere from Joe Rogan to the World Economic Forum to Harvard.
Given the stakes, I pondered my first question for weeks. Ultimately, I started with this:
Navin: “Why do these leaders seek you out?”
Sadhguru surprised the elite CSIS audience with his answer:
“Maybe… one of the few human beings who is not screwed up in their head.
Not screwed up by education.
Not screwed up by politics.
Not screwed up by religion.
Not screwed up by philosophy.
…just pure life.”

I’ve been thinking about Sadhguru’s answer ever since. How do we identify the biases — both large and small — that silently shape every decision?
Stripping away external conditioning is hard. Why? Because by the time we notice, these external forces become internal. We absorb them into our thinking, our emotions, our reactions… into our very identity.
The point isn’t to strip away every voice. The point is to be aware when something other than your own clarity is shaping your decisions.
Perhaps conscious leadership doesn’t necessarily begin with a clean slate, but rather, an honest self-inventory.
And let’s be honest – most of us rarely take one.
Warmly,
Navin
