Gents –
In August 2015, turning 40 meant an entire month of extravagance. First was Ibiza, where I navigated the island with an entourage and bodyguard. It ended in Stockholm with a two day birthday extravaganza, culminating with Ace of Base’s surprise performance.
It was amazing, but did I invest in myself? No.
Imagine if I’d spent that month fostering personal growth? That evolution would have compounded over time.
I’m not against vintage champagne or private flights. Enjoy your ample success. I’m just wondering if you’re balancing your investment in your future self with resources spent on current enjoyment?
This year, my birthday event was a North Carolina meditation retreat. It was a great investment in my future self. Naturally, I celebrated in Stockholm too, but notably absent was the desire to go over-the-top.
As we approach this long weekend, I humbly invite you to robustly enjoy the fruits of your labor. Go big. But at the same time, ask yourself if you’re consistently investing time, money and energy…in you. Yes, You.
The quality time spent with family is an investment in them. They are not you. You deserve, or may require, an investment in your capacity for clarity, calm, and contentment.
We’ll consciously invest in ourselves at Valhalla Ascend IV. The sauna is hot, the lake is cold, and a goat will be eaten. Reach out with questions.
Warmly,
Navin
